Barnsley looking to step up their pursuit of a new Head Coach in trying to tempt former Player/Head Coach Paul Heckingbottom back to the Club.

Heckingbottom, most recently of Sheffield United has been out of work since December having been relieved of his duties due to a poor run of form in the Blades' Premier League campaign.

Heckingbottom, also having previous spells with Barnsley, Hibernian and Leeds United could be open to an Oakwell return with the Yorkshire outfit set to take on Bolton Wanderers this Friday in the first leg of the League One Play-Off Semi Finals.

Should Heckingbottom return to Oakwell, it would see a repeat of his previous stint at his hometown club after guiding The Reds to promotion to the Championship via the Play-Offs in 2015/16 aswell as picking up silverware earlier on in the season after beating Oxford United in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, now Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
